“When we take away from a man his traditional way of life, his customs, his religion, we had better make certain to replace it with something of value.”

This is a quote from Robert Ruark, who wrote about South Africa so poetically. And yet the words ring true for almost anything.

Has anyone taken anything from me?

No.

Have I offered something?

I think yes.

Has it been replaced with something of value?

Yes.

I cannot express it any clearer.

This will be a short entry this evening, but a deeply felt one. One does so many things to try to make one’s life a better place, and yet one also tries to make other people’s life a better place. One tries to give them something of value.

That is all.
